Nandini Harihar is a Programme Associate at The Council and works with the CEO in the International Cooperation team. Her current research broadly covers the geopolitics and governance of the global commons. This includes climate risk, energy security, ocean governance, technology collaboration, multilateralism, and geoengineering. Her broader interests lie at the confluence of national and global environmental governance and domestic and foreign policy alliance in a changing geopolitical world.
Prior to joining The Council, Nandini interned with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Cyclone Forecast Division to analyze India’s cyclone monitoring mechanisms, forecast dissemination, and policies and procedures for evacuation of cyclone-prone regions in India.
Nandini holds an undergraduate degree in Meteorology & Oceanography from the University of East Anglia and a postgraduate degree in Environmental Technology and Global Environmental Change & Policy from Imperial College London. As part of her thesis, she worked with CGIAR Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCFAS) Programme on adopting and scaling out climate-smart agricultural practices amongst small-scale farmers in water-stressed districts in rural India.
Outside of work, she enjoys exploring new music, food, and cafes. She’s an avid coffee drinker and can almost always be found with a mug in her hand.
