Hello there, young thinkers and innovators!

We’re about to embark on an exhilarating journey to make complex UN policy accessible to everyone. In 2021, António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, unveiled his vision for a better and more collaborative world by 2030 in a roadmap called Our Common Agenda.

Fast forward to 2024, and the United Nations will host the Summit of the Future. This remarkable event will bring together world leaders, global champions, and industry titans, all united in their commitment to building a better world for the next and future generations.

In preparation for this momentous event, the UN Secretary-General has released nine policy briefs that are set to reshape our world. These briefs are not just words on paper; they’re our roadmap to a better future, aligned with the five principles of the Sustainable Development Goals: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership.

However, there’s a problem – the language in these policy briefs can be complex and lengthy, making it challenging for anyone on a busy schedule, especially young people, to grasp the vital information.

That is precisely why we have condensed each brief into comprehensible and visually captivating summaries. Through the Our Future Agenda program, UN Foundation aims to empower everyone with the knowledge they need to design our collective future, starting with our youngest generation.

Each brief is a blueprint for change, outlining how to turn aspirations into actions. With an emphasis on collaboration, inclusivity, and sustainability, these briefs present an inspiring view of what our world could become by 2100:

Policy Brief 1: Future Generations

Imagine a world where our decisions today ensure a thriving planet for tomorrow’s inheritors. This brief focuses on safeguarding the well-being of our children and grandchildren, going beyond survival to create a future where they can truly thrive. By promoting meaningful youth engagement, amplifying their voices, valuing their ideas, and providing platforms for collaboration and decision-making, we can harness their energy to address global challenges and build a better world.

Policy Brief 4: Beyond GDP

Let’s redefine economic progress by moving away from outdated metrics. This brief advocates for a shift beyond Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the sole measure of prosperity on issues like debt relief. It calls for a world that values well-being, sustainability, and equality, recognizing that true progress encompasses economic, social, and environmental dimensions. By embracing holistic approaches and placing people’s well-being at the center, we can forge a future where everyone shares prosperity.
