Ruchira Goyal – Future of Food Fellow 

Ruchira works as a Programme Associate in the Sustainable Food Systems team at The Council. Her research focuses on mapping various elements and linkages in the Indian food system, utilizing systems thinking tools to identify key areas for transformation. She is deeply interested in studying and applying interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to tackle complex challenges. Currently, she is focusing on the sustainable and equitable transformation of bovine-rearing systems and the water-energy-food nexus in India.

Ruchira holds a Masters degree in Sustainable Technology from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, as well as a BTech with Honors in Chemical Engineering from IIT Bombay. During her master’s thesis, she collaborated with the Inter IKEA Group, conducting an environmental life cycle assessment of virgin and recycled cotton within their value chain.

In addition to her academic achievements, Ruchira has led student teams dedicated to resource-sharing and waste-management initiatives. In her leisure time, Ruchira enjoys running, reading, and dabbling with new plant-based recipes.
