A Youth-Led Blueprint for Viksit Bharat 2047

Ten young changemakers. One bold vision. A roadmap to turn disruption into design – and deliver India’s future by 2047.

Our Future India brings together voices from across the world’s largest youth generation to imagine what a Viksit Bharat – a developed, inclusive, and future-ready India – could look like by 2047.

Created by the Next Generation India Fellows, in collaboration with the United Nations Foundation and the Council for Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), the report transforms the energy of 734 million young Indians into a plan for action. It’s a playbook written by the next generation on the edge of history.

“What this report captures is a generational shift—from protest to proposal, from anxiety to agency. These young leaders are designing a compact for the Indian century ahead.”

Dr Arunabha Ghosh

“Our Future India highlights how institutions can lead and transform possibilities into purpose — and action.”

Ambika Vishwanath

Director, Kubernein Initiative
“During India’s G20 Presidency, the Y20 was led entirely by independent youth. Through Chaupals and consultations, they proved Young India is ready to lead.”

How We Built It

This is one of the most comprehensive youth foresight efforts undertaken in India:

  • 1,200 survey responses collected nationwide.
  • 19 National Dialogues across the country and 4 diaspora hubs that engaged 2,000 Indians.
  • 63 Expert interviews spanning government, academia, business, and civil society.

A conference version of the report was first shared during the 80th United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week in New York, where world leaders and changemakers gathered to reimagine cooperation for future generations. Just weeks later, the report’s public launch took place in New Delhi on 28 October, marking its homecoming. Fellows, policymakers, and partners gathered to celebrate a shared vision for Viksit Bharat 2047 – where imagination meets implementation, and young people are not just shaping the future, but steering it.

Future Visions of India Design Challenge

We are thrilled to showcase outstanding designs that express the future of India through art, design, writing, or performance. These works reflect the creativity, and optimism of a generation ready to shape India’s future. Explore the designs and discover how young people across India are imagining the country at 2047.

Pranav Sood – What's next is the question

This painting envisions a bold, joyful India in 2047—rising above challenges with courage and resilience. The figure striding through storms and fire, lifting a ladder high, symbolizes fearless progress and unity. Inspired by India’s strong geopolitical standing, it celebrates the nation’s journey since Independence and its unwavering drive to move forward.

Nishit Mistry – Echoes of Bell

The artwork reimagines a childhood memory of friends sharing a bicycle, transforming it into a symbol of unity, balance, and joy. The oversized handle represents collective progress and inclusion, envisioning a future India built on community and resilience—where even the simplest shared moments hold the power to unite.

Zaara Iyer – Dear Mister Sun

The song follows a child’s letter to the sun, first written at age 12 amid hardship and poverty. Years later, in 2047, the grown narrator writes again, describing a transformed world—clean, peaceful, and full of hope. It’s a heartfelt reflection on resilience, progress, and gratitude for a brighter future.

Hiya Chadha – Socha Hai

This rap envisions India through the eyes of a young girl, imagining a nation shaped by the Sustainable Development Goals. It portrays a future where education empowers, justice and sustainability thrive, and every voice counts—a vision of 2047 where inclusion, innovation, and collective progress define the country’s true strength.

Desh Ki Mitti Ke Laadle (The Motherland Boys) – Salil Jamdar

This fantasy-comedy web series follows Shardul, Rahman, and Einstein—modern-day heroes inspired by freedom fighters—who use the BazooShastra, a laser bazooka, to banish wrongdoers to the Deshdrohi Blackhole. As “Desh Ki Mitti Ke Laadle,” they personify the Tricolour, tackling everyday civic issues with humour, style, and youth-driven social consciousness.
