Unlocking the Power of Next and Future Generations

Developed by the Unlock the Future coalition, this paper presents a 5-year Action Plan designed to empower all young people, particularly the most marginalized and underserved, to help them unlock the full potential of their future.

The paper draws from the knowledge of young changemakers and experts, inspiring a 5-year movement for a 2100 Roadmap. This Roadmap will serve as a springboard to tackle current and future challenges through global cooperation. It positions the Summit of the Future in 2024 as a stepping stone to reflect on past lessons and focus on empowering next and future generations. We aspire to create a world where every young person can unleash their potential, reaching the furthest behind first.

Together, we can rally the necessary resources, financing, and partners for change, fostering collective resilience and cooperation that is spearheaded by young people across the world. Through the Unlock the Future Declaration II, we extend an open invitation for you to join us in this vital endeavor of building a better, more equitable world for young people everywhere.

Igniting SDG Action for Next and Future Generations

In 2015, world leaders set a bold vision, the  2030 Agenda with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a global plan designed to create a future where humanity and our planet coexist in harmony. However, the journey has been arduous, with only 15% of these goals currently on track.

We, the Unlock the Future coalition, are steadfast in our mission to expedite progress towards these goals, leveraging young people’s potential, talent, and leadership, especially from young countries predominantly in Asia and Africa – where over 50% of the population is under 30 – to deliver impact for next and future generations.

Together we represent the world’s largest youth-focused organizations with a global reach of  nearly one billion people.
