This initiative focuses on Kisumu County in Kenya where both culturally and legally, gender equality faces numerous barriers.
This initiative, Storytelling For Change “Stories of Kisumu” will foster a network and platform for creative change makers across Kisumu to develop and amplify their unique voice.
Using a variety of storytelling tools, this initiative will highlight the voices of vulnerable women and girls between the ages of 15-28 years through performances in spoken word and theatre to create dialogue with the communities and duty bearers.
This initiative will also focus on capacity building for women and girls on how to use social media as a tool for their own storytelling through short film training and Community Participatory Educational Theatre (CPET) to amplify their voices towards gender equality and equity.
